AMICoP is a register for Approved Meter Installers (AMI)’s, which audits and assess metering organisations for data security and data accuracy.

The Automated Meter Reading Service Providers Code of Practice (ASPCoP) is an agreement created to define the operations, standards and methods by which metered gas consumption data is read and supplied to end-consumers and energy suppliers.

We are accredited by ELEXON as a Meter Operator (MOP) for both Supplier Volume Allocation (SVA) and Central Volume Allocation (CVA). We are also accredited as a Data Collector and Data Aggregator (DC/DA) for both Half Hourly (HH) and Non Half Hourly (NHH) electricity supplies.

Membership of the EUA Metering Services Group group is open to companies involved in the provision of metering services – Manufacturers, Meter Asset Managers (MAMs), Meter Operators (MOPs) and Meter Asset Providers (MAPs) as well as those organisations involved in training and the development of training standards in the metering industry.

Gas Safe Register is the only official gas registration body of gas businesses and engineers in the United Kingdom. By law all gas businesses must be on the Gas Safe Register, and a gas engineer can only undertake gas work on behalf of a registered business if they hold a valid and current qualification.

SMS is a qualified supplier of gas connections and metering services for the aerospace, defence, and security sectors, accredited through JOSCAR.

Our Training Academy in Bolton is approved by the LCL Awards, a UKAS Accredited Certification Body for the ACS gas scheme and an Ofqual, CCEA and Qualifications Wales recognised Awarding Organisation.

The Code of Practice for Gas Meter Asset Managers (MAMCoP), administer by Ofgem, applies to organisations undertaking managing primary gas meter installations connected to the network in Great Britain.

The Meter Operation Code of Practice Agreement (MOCOPA®) is an agreement between Electricity Distribution Businesses and Electricity Meter Operators in Great Britain which defines safety, technical and business interface requirements regarding the provision of meter operation services.

As of 2021, all metering codes from the previous MRA and SPAA bodies transitioned to REC, this includes all Meter Equipment Managers (MEM) accreditations (MOP/MAP/MAM). The REC represents a step-change for the metering industry with a mission to elevate customer outcomes through promoting innovation and competition
